History Of Prambanan Temple


Prambanan temple is a group of temples built by the kings’ dynasty Sanjaya in the tenth of century. Discovery of the writing name “ pikatan” in the temple, it raises the opinion that the temple was built by Rakai Pikatan who later settled by Rakai Balitung. According to stone inscription dated in 856 M or  " Siwargrarha Inscription " as a political manifest to strengthen its position as a great king. Siwargrarha inscription in 856 M issued by the Rakai Pikatan unknown origin, now it is stored in the National Museum in Jakarta.

Prambanan temple is also the cultural heritage Hindu.  The temple is located in the Prambanan district of Sleman, DI Yogyakarta. It is about 30 minutes from the city center. Supposedly there was  999 temples. Now there are just only a few big temples and other small temples. These temples have different sizes and there is one of the most major temples. Each temple, there is a entrance ladder and inside the temple there is a statue that is different of each others, and it also in the walls of the temple are reliefs are very unique because these reliefs depict Hindu culture in the past.  Prambanan temple has three main temples in the main courtyard, namely Vishnu, Brahma, and Shiva. The third temple symbolizes the Trimurti Hindu beliefs. The third temple faces east-and from the three of them, there are accompanying temple facing westward.
The earthquake that hit Yogyakarta in 2006 caused a lot of damage to the temple, but do not worry, the damage has now been repaired. If you want to Prambanan temple and you will drive a car or motorcycle, you simply pass the road Solo, from overpass Janti, to the east continues. Then you will see the Prambanan temple on the left before passing the border to Central Java. I hope after the author wrote this articles, you will visit it.
